Information System Project Management and Type of Feasibility

Question: Discuss about the Information System Project Management. Answer: Feasibility Analysis Technical Feasibility: This type of feasibility study is referred as the ability of infrastructure of an enterprise for utilizing the particular information system, which would be developed in the present project. After analysis of current IT infrastructure of the enterprise, it can be stated that few minor change management activities would be helpful for the organization that are needed to handle new information system in the workplace of the enterprise. Thus, the project is feasible for the organization from technical perspectives. Economic Feasibility: Economic feasibility is referred as financial resources needed for the project. Budget of the product would be analyzed in the beginning level. In addition, the budget would be developed with respect to specifications of the enterprise as well as financial status of the enterprise. Hence, the project can be feasible from the economic perspectives of the organization. Operational Feasibility: The ability of the operation of new system needs to encounter with the needs of the enterprise. Thus, based on the present status of operation of the business the particular requires enhancement. The system would be able to encounter the needs of the organization. Thus, it concludes that the project is operationally feasible from the operational aspects of the organization. Requirements Analysis Functional Specification: The functional needs of the particular project are operations. It requires to be performed with the help of the system. In addition, the system is able in handling details of the customers. The details of the packages and data management for ware house maintenance, management of staffs in the organization provide delivery services. The operations regarding payment for the activities of business also require to be incorporated with the particular system. Non-functional Specification: These types of requirements of the project are referred to quality of latest system. In addition, the system need to be capable in order to perform operations without having any types of error as well as less time. Furthermore, the specific functions of system need to be handled easily by staffs of the enterprise. The system also requires to be able in providing clear and understandable reports about distinctive types of the information that are needed for the procedure of decision making of the business organization. Project constraints Project constraints have an important role in the particular. There are three major project constrains, which are available in specified area of the project management. The project constraints are cost and opportunity as well as schedule of the project. These are also called as triple constraints of project management triangle. Scope of the project: It is referred as specific objectives as well as deliverable of the particular project. In the present case, objective of the particular project needs to develop an information system for the purpose of handling business operations that is mentioned in present the case study organization. In addition, the deliverable of particular project needs to have detailed project schedule, and budget plan along with developed system. In addition, detailed documentation of the particular system is included in the process. Cost of the project: It is important to have detailed budget of the project. It needs to be calculated within project schedule. The needed cost of the project is $35800.00. Breakdown Structure of project work WBS Task Name 0 Planning and establishment of information system for Signed, Sealed and Delivered 1 Initiating the project plan 1.1 Definition of objectives of the project 1.2 Selection of project operations 1.3 Estimation of Budget of the project 1.4 Establishing detailed schedule of the particular project 1.5 Approval of plan 2 Designing the application of the project 2.1 Requirements of the design is assessed 2.2 Designing tools and platform as well ad method is selected 2.3 Completion of the design 3 System Development 3.1 Analysis of the requirements in database 3.2 Integrating database with the design 3.3 Analysis of the application platform 3.4 Programming 3.5 Developing the application 4 Testing Phase 4.1 Testing 4.2 Errors are assessed 5 Final Documentation and Training 5.1 Closure of project and progress of the documents are created 5.2 Manuals for training are developed 6 Delivery of complete information system and make documentation Bibliography: Baer, A.
